Whilst for accountants April marks a new financial year for inland revenue purposes, for immigration solicitors April sees a review of Home Office sponsorship, Immigration and nationality fees. This year the review was updated on the 10 March 2021, with any changes coming into force on the 6 April 2021. In this article we highlight the current sponsorship, Immigration and nationality Home Office application fees.

The Home Office fees
The Home Office Immigration and nationality fees schedule, effective from the 6 April 2021, was keenly awaited by immigration solicitors to see if there would be any change in sponsorship, Immigration or nationality fees and to make sure that all Home Office applications are submitted with the correct application fee. However, this year the updated fee schedule has revealed no changes.
Whilst that is good news, the reality is that many more UK employers are having to apply for sponsor licences to become sponsoring employers because of the end of free movement and the inclusion of EU nationals into the UK points-based Immigration system. Brexit, and the end of the transition period on the 31 December 2020, hasn’t just resulted in increased sponsorship and recruitment costs for UK employers but costs for EU citizens looking to come to the UK for work purposes.
Many Immigration solicitors say skilled worker visa application fees and associated costs are a deterrent to skilled migrant workers when there is a UK skills shortage with jobs on the government produced shortage occupation list. It is a concern when EU skilled migrant workers have the choice of taking up shortage occupation jobs in other countries, without the same level of fees or red tape.
The Home Office fee schedule
Although fees haven’t changed, we have listed the current Home Office Immigration fees for the most popular visa applications and sponsor licence fees in the table below. It really does pay to double check Immigration fees and get them right first time because otherwise your visa application or Sponsor Licence application could be rejected or refused.
