This month the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) closed down three law firms. The SRA intervention came about after a Daily Mail undercover operation involving journalists posing as asylum claimants and people requiring immigration services. The SRA will now quite rightly be conducting its own investigation into the practices at these firms but genuine immigration clients are worried about the impact of the law firm closures on them and on their pending or planned visa, asylum or licence applications.

The SRA closed firms
Two of the three immigration law firms where the SRA has intervened are in the London area; Rashid & Rashid in South Wimbledon and Lincoln Lawrence in Hounslow. The third law firm, Kingswright Solicitors, is in Birmingham.
An intervention or closure means the three firms cannot operate. This doesn’t just affect a client who may have had a questionable or non-genuine immigration claim (as revealed by the Daily Mail investigation) but also the thousands of immigration applicants who had gone to one of these three firms in good faith with a genuine immigration application.
