How to I negotiate an early surrender from a tenancy?

  • Posted on

I have a one year fixed term with no break clause but due to change in my job location I have to vacate the house, now the LL is asking me to pay the rent for the full term and also half of the fees that he has spent on securing a new tenant. My question is how do I legally avoid to pay the rent for the remaining term

Thank you for your enquiry.

You may wish to enter into negotiations with the agents or landlord to secure an early surrender and to minimise rent liability for the remainder of the contract. There are options available that you may be able to apply to strengthen your negotiating position and we suggest you contact the firm in order to discuss the merits.
